The family atelier of Maria Diamandi started its operation for the first time in Kerameikos, in 1930 as a classic haute couture fashion room of the time. Its owner, Maria Diamandi the senior, clothes and hats couturier, due to her vast experience and her willingness to impart her knowledge, established the Maria Diamandi sewing school, from which a very large number of people graduated through the years of its operation.

Her granddaughter, Maria Diamandi was born in Athens and raised in the family atelier and fashion school which her grandmother, Maria Diamandi the senior, was running.

She studied fashion design and theatrical costume design and taught in fashion design schools in Greece. In 2011 she established her own atelier in the very same street at Kerameikos, Marathonos str. where her grandmother's atelier was originally founded.

Ever since she has been creating custom made clothes, totally handmade, she has revived her grandmother's fashion school and  since 2013 she has been involved in the research and development of her own inspired sculptural creations which in Greek she calls them #yfantika_glypta.

In 2016 she extended her atelier activities to include on-line fashion courses for Greeks who live overseas through which her team grew larger, adopting an international character.

She had already presented two thematic fashion exhibitions and her first collection in the Municipal Gallery of art of Piraeus, when she announced that for two years she had already been doing her own research and preparing her third exhibition. Her theme was based on how contemporary the acclaimed and internationally acknowledged Greek Designers are still nowadays.

The first part of this exhibition with the title #Ode_Couture was presented in the Benaki museum, on the 25th of September of 2019. Fashion students from all over the world came to Athens to participate in this exhibition.
